Qualified Retirement (401k) Dashboard Guide

The 401(k) dashboard gives you a page-by-page view of the trading activity in our qualified retirement account. Based on the dashboard layout, you can see recent orders, view any currently open positions, and review the complete trade history. This guide explains the main items users can view on the page and defines the most important terms used there.

What You Can See on the 401(k) Dashboard

The dashboard is organized into clearly labeled sections that show what has recently been traded, whether the account currently holds positions, and a history of the completed trades. These sections appear together under the Qualified Retirement Dashboard heading.

  • Latest Orders
  • Current Open Positions

Page Item Descriptions

Latest Orders

The Latest Orders section shows the most recent trades recorded for the account. When orders exist, this table displays the Index ETF symbol, Position, Action, % of Account, and Order Time for each trade. This gives users a quick view of what was traded, how the order was entered, and how much of the account was allocated to it. To clear the Filter Symbol search results, change the "placed on" calendar date to another date.

Users can opt in to an email alert service to receive JST trade updates promptly. If enabled, the service sends the latest order updates for all subscribed dashboards to the email address associated with the user's account.

  • Index ETF: The ETF used to represent the market segment being traded.
  • Position: The status (i.e. new or existing) of the position in the table.

Current Open Positions

The Current Open Positions section shows the holdings that are currently active in the account. This gives users a quick view of what is currently held and the % gain/loss since the entry price.

Access and Expectations

The 401(k) dashboard is available to users who create a JST account and sign in. It is intended to provide visibility into actual JST 401(k) account activity, holdings, and historical trades. It is not designed as personalized financial advice, a discussion forum, or a general market education resource.

Recommendations on Crossing Index ETFs to your 401K Mutual Funds

The 401(k) dashboard uses index ETFs to show the market index traded. Because many employer retirement plans offer mutual funds instead of ETFs, users can use the Index ETF symbol on the dashboard to identify a correlated mutual fund option in their 401(k) plan. The goal is not to suggest that every plan will have an exact match, but to help users track the same market segment using the investment choices available in their personal accounts. The reason ETFs are used as a proxy is because it's easier to apply technical analysis and timing to ETFs vs. the indexes directly. To identify which mutual funds correlate best, JST recommends you use an AI service (Chat GPT, CoPilot, etc.) to provide a table for you. Simply enter the funds in your 401k and ask it to correlate the proxy Index ETF symbols JST tracks (shown in table below). Below is an example table for JST's 401K plan and the Index ETFs we monitor.
